This course is intended for undergraduate students in sport management to develop a basic understanding of the analytics in the sports industry. The role of analytics is continually increasing in the global sports industry, students need to understand how analytics are used.
- Understand the use of statistics in player performance, team management, team valuation, and sponsorship
- Interpret marketing and purchase based evidence used by sports organizations
- Interactive, experiential and cooperative learning experience
- Learn and play Fantasy Football throughout the fall
- Big-time database use: learn how to use the Knight-Newhouse College Athletics Database to investigate revenue and expense trends in intercollegiate athletics
- Participate in analyzing actual fan engagement of real live sporting events
